With the JobKeeper 1 coming to an end on 28th September you will need to check your eligibility for JobKeeper 2 – please refer to our previous article here to check if you are eligible.
Firstly, if you are not eligible for JobKeeper 2 then you must stop paying your employees that are receiving the top up payments of $1,500 per fortnight from 28th September. Your JobKeeper will cease and there is no further lodgement requirements.
If you are currently receiving JobKeeper 1 and are eligible for JobKeeper 2 then your monthly lodgments will continue and there is no requirement to re-register. You will need to ensure that you adjust your top up payments to reflect the new JobKeeper Payment rates detailed below:
The JobKeeper Payment rate is to be reduced and paid at two rates:
- From 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021, the payment rate will be:
- $1,200 per fortnight for all eligible employees who, in the four weekly pay periods before either 1 March or 1 July 2020, were working in the business or not-for-profit for 20 hours or more a week on average and for business participants who were actively engaged in the business for more than 20 hours per week; and
- $750 per fortnight for employees who were working in the business or not-for-profit for less than 20 hours a week on average and business participants who were actively engaged in the business less than 20 hours per week in the four weekly pay periods before either 1 March or 1 July 2020.
- From 4 January 2021 to 28 March 2021, the payment rate will be:
